On June 12, 2025, the 28th Shanghai International Film Festival officially opened. As China's only Class A international film festival, this year's event received approximately 4,100 film submissions from 125 countries and regions, setting a new all-time record, with notable growth in entries from the Americas and Africa. During the festival, more than 420 films from 77 countries and regions will be screened across over 1,600 showings.
